Step One: Contact the Vines of Mendoza. Situated in Mendoza's Uco Valley in Argentina, the 900-acre vineyard, run by Michael Evans and Pablo Gimenez Riili, is divided into estates that can be purchased by individual investors starting at $55,000 an acre. (That's one-fifth of the cost of land in Napa.) The vineyard staff manages the entire operation, from grape to bottle. Plot owners are welcome—but not required—to learn the wine-making process alongside Argentinean experts such as Santiago Achával. “People can do as much or as little as they like,” Evans says. “There's a wide gamut of participation.”
