quinceThis year, the 15th “Degustación de Oro” (Golden Tasting) will have a plus important change. The chosen wines are those that have received medals and important awards in international contests and magazines, such as Wine Advocate and Wine Spectator. Moreover, the wine tasted when Barack Obama was inaugurated as President of the United States will also be included among the 15 wines.

The 15th “Degustación de Oro” will be performed next 2nd July at the Mendoza`s Sheraton Hotel. The classic event of the Argentinian wine industry, which awards the best winemakers, is organized by APEAA  (Wine and Food Professionals Association of Argentina), member of the Union Internationale des Œnologues (International Association of Winemakers).

This year, apart from tasting excellent varietal wines, the public may have the chance to taste a foreign wine that was served when Barack Obama was inaugurated as President of the United States.

List of the wines tasted in the 15th “Degustación de Oro”
1 Sauvignon Blanc SB 2009, Bio Bio (Chile)
2 Bramare Cabernet Sauvignon Luján de Cuyo 2007 - Viña Cobos
3 Familia Schroeder Pinot-Malbec 2004
4 Zentas Reserve Familia Masera Giol 2008 San Polo
5 Alegoría Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 - Navarro Correas
6 Cadus Malbec 2005 Nieto Senetiner
7 Antología XXI Rutini 2006 - La Rural
8 Special Blend 2006 Bodega del Fin del Mundo
9 Chardonnay Reserve 2007 – Bodega Graffigna
10 Raza Varietal Syrah 2008 Cooperativa La Riojana
11 Catena Zapata 2006
12 Privado 2006 – Bodega Norton
13 Achaval Ferrer Finca El Mirador Mendoza 2007
14 Andeluna Grand Reserve Pasionado 2004
15 La Celia Reserva Cabernet Franc 2006 or La Celia Reserva Malbec-Tannat 2006

In this edition there will be interesting products to taste. “Formerly, the chosen wines were only those that had achieved Gold Medals in national and international contests. Nevertheless, several high quality and internationally successful wines were not interested in participating in this kind of contests due to commercial or marketing reasons. Thus, we decided to invite these wineries to participate in this year`s tasting, enhancing the excellence of the event,” explained from APEAA.

“This way, – APEAA continued- this year we may pay tribute to the winemakers who have made high quality wines that have achieved high scores in the most prestigious magazines such as Wine Advocate or Wine Spectator. We think that this 15th tasting will be very special because the attendees will have the unique chance to taste wines that are difficult to find in the market since they are limited edition and high-priced wines.”

The Association also points out that attendees may listen direct from the winemakers “the secrets, experiences and passion shared in these excellent wines.”
Moreover, this year attendees may also have the chance to taste the wine that was served when Barack Obama was inaugurated as President of the United States. It is a Sauvignon Blanc 2009 from Chile that was awarded 91 points by Stephen Tanzer in 2010 (this was the highest score for a Sauvignon Blanc in this edition) and Gold Medal in the Concours Mondial Bruxelles 2010 (Vintage 2009).
