During the last week of July, wineries from Mendoza and San Juan had the opportunity of introducing their wines to eight Russian importers. Wines of Argentina was in charge of organizing this event, having excellent results.
Some of the import companies were: Perfect, JSC United Distributors, Rusimport, Vintage-M, OKV, ZAO Interprodukt-96, Vinoterra and Azbuka Vkusa.
According to a report made by Euromonitor, the development of Russia’s wine industry has been deferred due to economic problems in the country. However, it is foreseen that, between 2010 and 2020, wine demand will be slowly recovered, together with an increase in purchasing power of consumers.
Moreover, a major wine culture development is expected as well as an improvement of consumers’ knowledge. This way, when buying a wine, the key factor will be quality rather than price.
Finally, the report unveils that Russian consumers will be increasingly inclined to buy New World wines.
