According to a wine industry research, VinQuest 2011, wineries leverage social media and multiple direct sales channels to rebound from recession. In 2010, sales volumes grew 12%.

U.S. consumer direct wine sales by American wineries reached record levels in 2010 and they continue to grow at a double-digit pace in 2011, according to the latest wine industry research reported by VinterActive LLC. Based on their annual VinQuest™ survey of the nation’s 3500+ bonded wineries, VinterActive reported that tasting room, wine club, internet, and event sales grew 12% to a record $3.4 billion in 2010, as wineries adopted new marketing strategies to emerge from the grip of recession.
