Argentinian restaurant and English winery will produce Malbec

This is a joint venture between two companies. The idea is to buy grape in Mendoza and make wine in England.

The news was published by the prestigious magazine Decanter in its online edition. In the article they maintain that about 2,000 bottles will be produced by Gaucho Restaurant Group and Chapel Down Winery using grapes from Mendoza that will be vinified in England.

The system is like this: the total amount of grapes ready for export would be around 2,100 kilos from old vine Malbec grapes owned by Gaucho Group in Mendoza, under the supervision of Phil Crozier and Frazer Thompson.

The grapes were packed in chilled 8kg boxes for the transatlantic flight to Heathrow via Buenos Aires. When the grapes land at Heathrow, they will be picked up by a refrigerated van and taken to the Chapel Down winery in Kent, where they will be vinified.
