It is with great sadness we report the passing of Ward Lay, a true gentlemen from Texas, USA.
Ward's devotion to Argentine culture and winemaking was significant, and his love for Mendoza was very apparant.
Ward was one of the pioneers of the "new" wave of foreigner's who have setup winemaking projects in Valle de Uco.

It is with profound regret that we announce the death of Ward Lay. He left us today, at his home in Dallas, Texas, after a long battle against cancer. Ward was 66 years old.
We remember Ward as an absolute gentleman in the old-fashioned sense of the word. He was a descendent of one of the most traditional American families. Ward was the son of the late Frito-Lay co-founder and PepsiCo chairman Herman Lay. His countless contributions and donations made him stand out among the many communities he participated in.
Ward was a highly respected businessman; he was a creator of several companies across diverse industries, such as Oil and Gas, Food and Beverages, Agriculture, and real estate. He was also a great sports fan.
His love for Argentina made him purchase a property in Patagonia in 1995, setting up a hunting and fishing lodge, where he would share unforgettable moments with his family and friends.
In 2003 he founded Andeluna Cellars by the Andes Mountain range, Mendoza, with the vision of making top-quality wines and showing the world what can be done with passion and hard work.
Ward left us a legacy of effort, hard work, perseverance, respect and solidarity. Ward will be around us any longer, but his brave spirit is a trace that will never be erased.
Ward had three children. And lots of friends around the world.
Let´s pray together for his soul. He now rests in peace.
