Boca Juniors tie River Plate on ‘Superclásico’

Boca Juniors and River Plate draw 1-1 during the second summer derby held in Mendoza. Falcioni's team had won 2-0 the first Superclásico of the year held in the Atlantic city of Mar del Plata.
River's Mariano Pavone opened the score only 7' after the kick-off, but Boca's Martín Palermo managed to level things up in the minute 25 of the first half.
On the first ‘Superclásico’, Boca showed nothing but pure dominance over a rival that seemed to be still under the effects of the exhausting pre-season works, which sometimes included three practices per day. Back then, Martín Palermo and Nicolás Colazo did not miss the chance and punished River Plate with superb goals.
Boca Juniors appeared as the most solid team within the pre-season summer matches. With a new coach, Julio César Falcioni, who seems to have brought the tactical order and specific game-plan the team was lacking of. Boca finished undefeated the pre-season competition with three wins (Independiente 2-0; River 2-0; and San Lorenzo 3-0), and last night's draw.
Boca is also said to be the side that clinched the best deals during the still ongoing transfer window thanks to the arrivals of midfields Leandro Somoza (Vélez Sarsfield), Diego Rivero (San Lorenzo), and playmaker Walter Erviti (Banfield), who did not make his debut yet.
On the other hand, River Plate started the summer with the wrong foot in terms of results. An opening defeat against Racing Club (1-3) followed by the Superclásico step-back were to much to considered the scoreless draw against Estudiantes de La Plata as an improvement.
