bah-26794_devido470Argentine Planning Minister Julio De Vido assured that all decisions made regarding energy use "are part of a plan and are not emergency measures," such as some media outlets had said.

He said that "the importation of natural gas, fuel oil and gas oil for electrical centres and the gas from Bolivia and electric energy from Brazil are decisions that were planned and carried out with the goal of sustaining and accompanying the residential demand, improving the lives of our citizens and sustaining a growth within the industry."

Through a press release, the Ministry led by De Vido clarified that "in the case of importing gas from Bolivia, we went back to the older agreement with YPF that was left behind in earlier years because those administrations were not interested in larguer gas volumes for industry development."

"All of the actions carried out within the National Energy Plan, presented in 2004, have allowed the electrical system to supply energy without major difficulties during a very cold winter season. This is the product of a plan that allowed for electricity growth to increase 35 percent," he said.

He also added that it is government policy to "allot subsidies for the price differences that could exist and allow the internal market to grow and export products at higher values, since Argentina looks to be not a petroleum-based country but an industruial one."

Finally, the minister criticized some media outlets for "lack of information and knowledge."
