Residents in part of southern tip of South America are fortunate enough to see a total eclipse of the sun today, when the moon passes between the sun and the earth (see map).
According to the Buenos Aires Planetarium, only Argentine residents in southeast part of the province of Santa Cruz, near the city of El Calafate, will experience a total eclipse, while in Mendoza viewers can enjoy an approximate 54% of the experience between 5pm and 6pm.
