Bicentennial Art in Mendoza’s airport

62210-4c1bfc9d9613b_584_!Airports around the country have erected art displays related to the 200th bicentennial of Argentina. Mendoza is no exception and has its own display thanks to local artists.

In fact, in the Espacio Arte Mendoza, located in the Mendoza airport “El Plumerillo”, the works of three visual artists of Paula Rivero, Gema Gallardo Accardi y Aída Durini can be found, dazzling the travelers.

The artists:


Paula Rivero was born in Buenos Aires 37 years ago. Her passion for art surged during her infancy in while living in Uruguay, which further developed during studies conducted in universities in Mexico and Italy. She later returned to Argentina where she earned a teaching degree from the Escuela de Bellas Artes Pridiliano Pueyrredón.

Gema Gallardo was born in Mendoza in 1976. Her early passion for painting took her to study at the Escuela Provincial de Bella Arte, and later in the Facultad de Artes de la UNCuyo. She continued her career under the guidance of important local artists teachers like Aída Durini, who is displaying artwork here also.

Aída Durini lives in Mendoza where she has taught art for decades. Aída graduated from the La Escuela de Bellas Artes in 1975 and has transformed into a highly respected artist, winning numerous prizes for her works.

The exhibition:


The national exhibition “Argentina: 200 years” is being simultaneously displayed in 13 airports around the country: Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Bariloche, Neuquén, Jujuy, Iguazú, Salta, Mar del Plata, Bahía Blanca, Viedma, Tucumán, Mendoza y Resistencia.

40 Argentinean artists are participating in the national exhibition, demonstrating their heritage and passion for the country. Some of the names are: Milo Lockett de Resistencia, Nadia Guthmann de Bariloche, Diego Gutiérrez de Córdoba, Luciana Malfatti de Buenos Aires, Ramón Muñóz de Neuquén, Mario Ferreyra de Jujuy, Gonzalo Gorostiaga de Buenos Aires, Darío Mastrosimone de San Martín de los Andes, Juan Marchesi de Viedma, Martín Santander de Córdoba, Silvia Basso de Mendoza y Alberto Mathot de Iguazú son algunos de ellos.

The entire national exhibition is versatile and colorful, combining photographs, works of art., installations, sculptures, collages, and pother forms of artwork.
