cd02f10207The province currently has over 90,000 broadband connections, according to the communications company Telefónica, not counting connections through other providers like Alink, and the growing usage of USB modems from cell phone companies.

In 2009, despite the tough economy, Internet access grew 23%, well above the average throughout the country, where the increase was 15%, “This demonstrates an important development which is taking place in the province” said Antonia Cunningham, spokeswoman for Telefónica, which along with Telecom, provides fixed telephony services and high speed Internet across the country.
