- What do you think, what will next year be like?
Trapiche’s exports, and of course exports of the industry in general, continue showing that there are opportunities to keep on growing. Nevertheless, wines have had more difficulties in certain markets than in others. Now, as a common factor, the exchange rate is a decisive factor to be competitive and the growing costs we have reduce profitability. In short, in an economy with a certain level of inflation and with a stable dollar, we have inflation in dollars. Additionally, we have deductions; therefore, it would be ideal to improve this situation since they do not accept new prices abroad. In fact, there are more chances that the domestic market accepts some development of prices that accompany the economy rhythm.
- How may profitability affect the industry in the long term?
Considering this situation, it is very difficult to forecast what will happen. If trends remain the same, it will not be profitable to export certain wine segments. This will be possible just for higher-priced wines. We will have to take a look at the development of prices in Argentina, the exchange rate in the future and the reaction of the foreign market.
- In some way, the international crisis benefited Argentinian wines abroad due to is price-quality ratio. In this sense, have we reached our ceiling?
