The rates of informal employment dropped to 34.6 percent in the first trimester of 2010, a loss of 1.8 percentage points compared to the same period in 2009, according to the INDEC statistics bureau. The index showed that employment without a contract during the first trimester of 2009 was at 36.1 percent.
The highest indicator of informal labour was in La Banda, in Santiago del Estero province, with 43.9 percent, while the lowest indicator was in Río Grande, Ushuaia, with 12.7 percent.
In Buenos Aires province, the index reached 33.1 percent, in the city of La Plata 32 percent and in Rosario 39.5 percent.
