Crude steel production grew 63.1 percent in May year-on and 2.5 percent with regards to April, according to the Steel Industrial Centre (CIS)."Crude steel production in May 2010 reached 438,400 tons, 2.5 percent more with regards to the values of the previous month (427,900 tons) and 63.1 percent higher than that of May 2009 (268,800 tons)," the organism informed.
In this way, in the first five months of the year, steel production has reached 2,027,700 tons, which is equivalent to 50.5 percent more than the same period of 2009 (1,347,400 tons).
The average use capacity between January and May was of almost 73 percent, as yet under the 80 percent ratio reached at the end of 2008, before the international financial crisis.
With regards to primary iron, May production totalled 355,600 tons, 5.1 percent more than in April and 76.3 percent higher to the same month of 2009.
