About 80 per cent of large companies in the country plan to make investments destined to innovation activities, be them research and development (R&D), development of new products or process improvement, according to a survey carried out by the Industry Minister.

The auto and pharmaceutical sectors stand out and include most of the companies with innovative strategies, particularly in R& D. In this sense both sectors show great dynamism in the taking of loans at 9.9 per cent annually from the Bicentenary Fund, read a press release issued by the Ministry headed by Industry Minister Débora Giorgi.

Pharmaceutical companies already have approved projects for almost ARS 400 million which shall create 500 new jobs, increase exports in ARS 166.1 million and substitute imports for ARS 180 million a year.

The auto industry has projects approved totaling almost ARS 800 million which once consolidated shall create annual exports for over 2.4 billion.

"Innovation plays a key role in the promotion of economic development and it specially makes it possible to improve competitiveness both in the domestic and foreign market", concluded Giorgi.
