Argentina’s GDP at 9.1%, highest in five years

Argentina's economy clocked growth of 9.1% in 2010, the fastest pace in five years, President Cristina Fernandez said.

Latin America's third largest economy rebounded swiftly from a slowdown in 2009 to expand at one of the strongest rates in the region last year. It was helped by strong agricultural exports and booming auto sales to regional powerhouse Brazil.

“In our bicentennial year, Argentina grew 9.1%,” Fernandez said in a televised speech, referring to 2010, the 200th anniversary of Argentina's independence declaration on Friday.
