BUENOS AIRES (Dow Jones)--German auto manufacturer Volkswagen AG (VLKAY, VOW.XE) will invest $155 million in its Argentine operations to increase local gear box production by 27%, the company said in a statement.The Argentine unit will produce a total of 1.3 million gear boxes per year once the expansion is completed in June 2012, some 350,000 more than at present, VW said.
The increased output will increase the firm's local export revenues by $130 million per year, VW said.
Volkswagen said it would prioritize local suppliers in sourcing parts for the gear boxes.
