tupungato_montJulio Camsen, the owner of Huentala Inversiones Hoteleras, which owns the Huentala Hotel and is a partner of the Sheraton Mendoza, acquired 200 hectares in a special area of Tupungato called Gualtallary, in Uco Valley (Valle de Uco) with a plan to make available 40 lots that ranges from three to five hectares, planted with vines. Each lot owner will have opportunities to participate in making wine from their own vines.

The master plan includes a resort with tourist facilities, and a winery in the future. Eduardo Vera is in charge of landscaping, and an agronomist still has yet to be named. Earth-moving machinery is already working on the site.

“My grandfather Samuel and my father had vineyards in Algarrobal (an area in the Las Heras district). That’s where I learned to irrigate, trim, and harvest vines. When I was growing up, I became a sommelier, so now I am very enthusiastic about this project, Camsen said.

Nearby neighbors of the project will include area vineyards of Chandon, Catena Zapata, Freixnet, and the competing wine & real estate project “Tupungato Winelands”

To complement his efforts, Mr. Camsen has joined together with the “Clos de Ocho”, which consists of Daniel Pi, Jorge Ricitelli, Roberto de la Mota, Mariano Di Paola, José Spisso, Pepe Galante, José Manuel Ortega and Enrique Chrabolowsky.
