USA: Renwood Winery acquired by Argentine billionaire

Not far behind glamour wine regions Napa and Sonoma, Amador County will soon be receiving international recognition as a world-class wine-growing district, after a recent acquisition of Renwood Winery by a billionaire Argentinian businessman and respected Argentine vintner.

Earlier this month, Ren Acquisition Inc., a privately held investment company chaired by Argentinian oilman Alejandro Pedro Bulgheroni, completed the purchase of Renwood, which was established in 1993 and quickly became one of the Sierra Foothills’ largest and best-known wineries.

Among RAI’s investors is veteran Argentinian winemaker Carlos Pulenta, proprietor with Bulgheroni of Bodega Vistalba, a winery in the Lujan de Cuyo region of the famed Mendoza Valley of Argentina.
