Cherry season ends in Chile and Argentina

According to a report, the offer volume was greater than in other years, driven mainly by Chile, which reached 55,000 tons of export. The delayed harvest in both countries generated a good demand at the start of the season, weeks 44 to 47, after that the bulk of the volume started to arrive to markets.

Europe had a lower demand than in previous years, with average prices below the historical average, paying well the quality and punishing fruit with lower quality and caliber.

The aerial demand of fruit was cut early because of the intense cold suffered by the continent. The large amount of fruit shipped by sea from Chile helped keep low prices until the end of February, with lower consumer demand caused by higher than normal cold.

Demand was sustained in the U.S., but as in Europe, only quality and good sizes had good prices.
