These regions have experienced the fastest growth of Argentina in the last year. Malbec wins the arm wrestling reaching 80% of investments.
With Malbec and exports on the up, new investments are increasing at the same pace. Cafayate and Uco Valley are among the favorite regions. Some areas of San Carlos and Salta are proof of this, where at least four 100-hectare wine projects were established in the past two years.
In Mendoza, between 2010 and 2011, plant demand mainly Malbec, is still very active. “Tupungato is the fastest growing region. Generally, these projects cover an average of 50-hectare with an average density of 5,000 plants per hectare. Local investors buy ungrafted plants, whereas Americans and Europeans prefer American rootstock”, highlighted Allende from Las Delicias.
