IMF mission meets with Mendoza gov't officials over new CPI

IMF officials met with members of the Mendoza government in order to become acquainted with the consumer price index being applied on a local level and see if the same methodology can be taken to a national level by the Indec statistics agency.

The organization’s officials are part of a technical mission sent to Argentina in order to help the government overhaul its consumer price index (CPI).

Mendoza’s Minister of Production, Technology and Innovation, Raúl Mercau, said that the IMF officials said they were “satisfied” with the province’s CPI.

The IMF delegation is headed by specialists Carlos Medeiros and Marshall Reinsdorf.
